Debbie Boostrom

Debbie was Playmate of the Month for August 1981. Her pictorial was titled Beauty and the Beach. Debbie auditioned to be the 25th anniversary Playmate – an honor that went to Candy Loving – and was pictured in The Great Playmate Hunt pictorial in January 1979.

Debbie was born June 23, 1955, in Peoria, IL, but grew up in Largo, FL. When she finished high school, she and her boyfriend traveled around the country in a van.

Playboy discovered Debbie on a beach in Miami. She appeared in several newsstand specials, Playboy videos, and participated in some events at the Playboy Mansion. She was among the Playmates featured in the pictorial The First Playmate Play-Offs in March 1983.

She moved to La Jolla, CA, for a while and modeled in Los Angeles. She eventually moved to Kansas, where she married a beer distributor. They had two children. However, the marriage ended after nine years and she returned to Florida, where she was involved in jewelry design and acting in infomercials.

Debbie is quoted in “The Playmate Book: Five Decades of Centerfolds” as saying, “Playboy has been like my family. Hef is one of the nicest people I’ve ever known. There’s nothing he ever says that he doesn’t stand behind.”

Later, she made appearances at Glamourcon.

Debbie was found dead in her apartment on July 29, 2008. She was thought to have died two weeks before she was found. The cause of death was ruled suicide by gunshot. Debbie was 53.
